This book is written my a Marion High School teacher. It is about change being inevitable and how it is nothing to be afraid of. It follows a leaf named Analee and tells about how she is scared to fall off the tree because it is the only home she has ever known. It is a good book for students because children like Anallee are very hesitant and afraid of change.
I think we are all a little scared of change. I know that I order the exact same thing every time I go to a restaurant. I always say that I will get something new, but I never do. :) Imagine how difficult change is to a child. They are learning so many different things very quickly. It is nice that you pointed out the awareness of this issue. This story is perfect for the situation. We need to make the child feel like they are at home for the duration of the day at school.
